John Binns is awarded an MBE in the 2017 Queens Birthday Honours List.

Former Deloitte partner and mental health adviser, John Binns, has been awarded an MBE for his services to mental health in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

John is currently the mental health and personal resilience adviser to  Deloitte , having retired from the partnership in 2013.

John also advises many other corporates nationally and internationally on mental health and wellbeing. He is a respected public speaker and media commentator on how to maintain wellbeing and resilience in the workplace.

Emma Codd, managing partner for talent, Deloitte North West Europe, says: “We are thrilled by this recognition of John’s exceptional work to promote mental health awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding it.

“John was one of the first business leaders to speak out publically about his own experience and he created one of Deloitte’s most important and successful mental health initiatives. Following a significant period of depression in 2007, he received a great deal of support from his colleagues and subsequently said that he wished he had spoken out earlier; this prompted him to bring together a group of interested partners to establish Deloitte’s mental health champions. John was one of the first mental health champions and there are now 21 across the business. They provide a confidential one-to-one advisory service for those suffering from mental health problems. His initiative was groundbreaking, achieving national and international recognition.”
