The City Mental Health Alliance held its second annual event for member organisations and supporters on 22 October 2014, kindly hosted by Goldman Sachs.
The focus of the event was ‘Leadership, Mental Health and the Success of the UK Economy’ and the key note address was given by Lord Gus O’Donnell, who took the opportunity to engage senior business leaders in the business case and the moral case for mental health as a key business priority and the important role of leaders to help drive change and remove the stigma associated with mental health in the workplace.
This was followed by a highly engaging panel discussion with David Brewin, Tax Partner at EY, and Dr Bill Mitchell, a clinical psychologist. David shared his own personal story of suffering from mental health issues and how he managed a successful return to work, and Bill shared his perspective on how leaders can help their people to build resilience and stay mentally fit at work.
Feedback from attendees was very positive and many stayed to continue their conversations about this important topic over networking drinks after the event.
